A Firm Foundation is Reliable
What is a Firm Foundation? It is a ‘place’ that one can stand on, take refuge and know that it is reliable. It is a ‘place’ that withstands any and every type of storm, valley, and dessert. Nothing can penetrate, shake or break this foundation.
This type of foundation enables a person to walk, stand, sit and lay down in confidence that no matter what happens in their life or the world around they are safe.
Even if they were to pass away, they are safe.
That is how strong this foundation is and how strong it needs to be if it is not.
As believers and followers of Jesus Christ this should be our firm foundation–Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our foundation. Our only foundation.
What does that mean exactly?
It means that every word that is God breath is our truth. A truth that cannot be changed by our circumstances, family, friends or the world. That truth is above it all. We can find that truth in the Bible. (There are many bibles and its okay to have a favorite. Best advice is to compare them to gain a full understanding of what God intended to share. Also the ultimate advice when reading, consult God! Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand.)
Now that truth was and is since the beginning of time because there is only ONE Truth. And that is God’s truth. God does not change. People do.
Since every word is God breath we can trust every word that is written. Even though God used many different authors it does not erase the fact that God told them what to write.
His Word
Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 AMP
It is written that God is the SAME yesterday and today and forever, that means that He is in fact the same God that we read about from beginning to the end of the Bible. Yet there is still more beyond that but even in forever He remains the same!
God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?
Numbers 23:19 ESV
The beautiful thing about God is that He is not like you and I that can make mistakes. He is beyond perfect! If He were to be like you and I, He would not be God. He has to be outside of our understanding and outside our time frame in order to be the God that He is. We can trust what God says. He does not change His mind or give out false promises. He is God! A God of His word.
He remains the Same
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:8 ESV
The world around us fades everyday but the word of God remains the same because He is the same therefore His word is endless like He is.
Heaven and earth will pass away but MY words will not pass away. (This is JESUS speaking confirming that He is God and that His word remains Truth.)
Matthew 24:35 ESV
Jesus Himself spoke this truth, that His words will not fade even after heaven and earth pass away! Time and time again God reaffirms that His word can be trusted and that He is God.
I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Revelation 22:13 ESV
Since He is the beginning and the end, that means that He has been there since way before our existence, Genesis 1 and that He is beyond what we know as the end, Revelation.
All these portions of the Bible given by God to different men including Jesus -which is Himself- confirms that His word is true and remains. It does not change. It confirms that He is the One that gives the word.
He Speaks
Since the word is God given it makes His word a reliable source to build a strong and firm foundation in Him. He is where you can find rest, refuge and peace. No matter what is going on around you and how things keep changing He remains the same and you can trust that He will be there for you.
God has always spoken and continues to speak. People are the ones that stopped listening because they believed the lie of the garden, that God is not good and He does not want what is best for us. That is the biggest lie the devil has told and continues to tell.
Seek and find refuge along with freedom in God’s truth!
What is God’s Truth?
God is a just God. God cannot have anything to do with sin. His mercy is what allows a sinner to come before Him with a repented heart to be completely forgiven. He loves His creation but He hates sin. He is awaiting for His creation to run to Him to find refuge in Him and be freed from the things that binds them. God’s truth is that He became man to bring salvation to the world.
He gave His life as a sacrifice so that we the people could reconciliate with God and have the opportunity to be freed and saved from sin. Sin is what separates us from God!
Sin is disobedience towards God.
Disobedience is Sin towards God.
Understanding God’s truth is standing on a firm foundation.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Hosea 4:6 ESV
Not knowing the truth or not accepting the truth not only destroys a person but it affects their future generations. We can see this very example in the Old Testament when Israel rejected God time and time again until they were completely handed over to their enemies for 70 years!
Run to Him
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the One who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:7-11 ESV
When you purposely take time to ask, seek and knock those questions will be answered, there will be nothing that is hidden, and every door will open according to His perfect will & timing. His ways are not our ways and His time is not our timing. Taking time to know God intimately results in the most firm foundation one could ever have. He is a good Father.
Seek His truth and begin to build a strong foundation in the One who truly loves your soul.
No other Love compares to that of the Lord’s.
The Rock
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Matthew 7: 24-27 ESV
Jesus is the Rock where we can build a firm foundation with His truth. Building in Him is the only life insurance you will ever need. His word can withstand every storm, every desert, every valley and every mountain.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Actually, you will lose fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger, bitterness, traumas, being tormented by demons, suicide, etc. . . There is so much that you will lose! Praise Jesus for His freedom!
